The Alliance for the Defense of Protected Areas is made up of more than 50 civil society organizations from various regions of the country, united to contribute to the effective conservation of Patagonia’s protected areas.

The Alliance calls for compliance with current laws and the country’s institutional framework to ensure the effective protection of protected areas.

Likewise, the Alliance demands that the salmon industry comply with both the Environmental Framework Law and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Law.

Patagonia’s protected areas are biodiversity refuges where the development of salmon farming is incompatible.

Patagonia’s protected areas were created to preserve unique ecosystems in the world that are part of humanity’s heritage.

The safeguarding, defense, and protection of the Protected Areas of Chilean Patagonia is a commitment made in the past, which deserves respect in the present in order to fulfill its goals for the future.

We believe in the safeguarding and defense of Patagonia’s protected areas — truly protected!

Vision

Protected areas are a contribution to the country and to the world, benefiting the local economy, education, science, research, and health, as well as the environment at local, national, and global levels.

Mision

We work to enhance the value of the protected areas of Chilean Patagonia, in order to counter the threats that jeopardize their conservation, particularly salmon farming.
